KRIS DEFOORT
— Typographic scores
Body of works trilogy for Contemporary composer Kris Defoort, composer, pianist and improviser. He developed a highly original musical language that moves at the crossroads of classical music and jazz, between writing and improvisation. In 2022, he received the "International Opera Award" for his world creation The Time of Our Singing.

A trilogy
“Pieces of Peace,” “Piano Works,” and “Pla(y)ces” form a trilogy within Kris Defoort’s acclaimed body of work. Although created at different times, they are connected by a subtle thread—a delicate line of perception that binds them together. Kris Defoort’s music is both classical and contemporary, energetic yet contemplative, simultaneously dramatic and euphoric. At its core lies intuition and an ongoing sense of confrontation, leaving ample space for openness, surprise, and interpretation. In response to his work, we have developed a typographic poetry that mirrors his artistic world—a constant and deliberate imbalance.
Pieces of Peace is a 3 pieces work divided into “The Smile”, “Silence and Joy” and “Hope” innspired by Poems by William Blake & Emily Dickinson.

"Pla(y)ces" is an uninterrupted, forty-minute stream of “instant composing” by Kris Defoort and Jan Michiels—a spontaneous musical journey. The cover design reflects its jazzy spirit, capturing the essence of improvisation and creative freedom.

Piano works features compositions for piano.
